It’s 1965, and during a rainy day in Paris, Léon-Claude Duhamel observes people struggling with bulky umbrellas. That’s when a revolutionary idea is born: a lightweight, waterproof, and easily foldable jacket. This marks the birth of K-Way®, a name that quickly becomes synonymous with rainwear innovation—providing protection as effective as an umbrella but far more practical and versatile. The brand’s success is immediate. K-Way® rapidly expands its product lines and conquers the sportswear sector, particularly in skiing. One of the most significant milestones of this era is the sponsorship of the French national ski team and the brand’s presence at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, where it outfits the French athletes. However, that same year, a devastating factory fire causes a major setback for the company. The brand’s revival begins in 2004 under the leadership of Marco Boglione and the BasicNet Group. K-Way® returns to the market with renewed energy, culminating in the opening of its first flagship store in Turin in 2007. In the following years, the brand successfully enters the world of high fashion, collaborating with prestigious names such as Fendi, Saint Laurent, and Comme des Garçons. Today, over half a century since its creation, K-Way® continues to innovate and surprise. It takes the runway at Milan Fashion Week, reaffirms its presence in sports, and in 2024 becomes the main sponsor of the French team in the America’s Cup. Throughout, it remains true to its essence: practical, functional, colorful, and timeless.
